Are you a savvy 401(k) investor who prefers to do your own investment research? If so, Fidelity BrokerageLink could be a useful tool for you.
WHAT IS BROKERAGELINK?
Fidelity BrokerageLink is an additional trading platform offered by Fidelity Investments to many of their 401(k) plan participants. It is a self-directed brokerage trading option that offers investment choices above and beyond the offerings provided by the company. Fidelity BrokerageLink can also be a great solution for American and Delta pilots who have limited time, interest or expertise in managing their own 401(k) investments.
Most standard 401(k) plans offer about 25 mutual funds as part of their investment line-up. With Fidelity BrokerageLink, you have access to thousands of mutual funds and other investment options like stocks, corporate bonds, mortgage securities, US Treasury securities, and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Keep in mind, however, that additional trading fees may apply to your Fidelity BrokerageLink account. The amount of the fees depends on the securities you are buying or selling and whether you place trades online or through a representative.
INVESTING THROUGH BROKERAGELINK
The American Airlines pilot 401(k) plan allows you to invest up to 95% of current and future 401(k) contributions into your Fidelity BrokerageLink account; Delta pilots can invest up to 98.5%. Your RAA investment plan will take into account current retirement savings via A Fund pensions and B Fund distributions for American Airlines, and PBGC benefits for Delta Air Lines, as well as your 401(k), Social Security income and military pensions, if any. Also, RAA clients do not pay the trading fees associated with Fidelity BrokerageLink, which add up quickly.
Taking care of your financial future during and leading up to retirement is too much of a responsibility to just “wing it!” Make sure you have a solid plan — and if you need assistance, we’re here to help.
